Adventures Into The Wild

On the 10th of september 2015 I had visited Brindavan College of engineering for a day long festival which had many events such as photography, counter strike , treasure hunt ,debugging etc. I took  part in the photography event and I stood 2nd . The theme was playing with light. I  did not know that we could use a laptop so I ended up submitting unprocessed images. These are the processed images of the ones that  I gave the organisers. The month of august was an interesting one. Jala Poshan, the citizen group I am a part of, was hosting a ten day long  Vanamohotsava - a tree planting drive ; around  Jakkur lake. The whole point of the Vanamohotsava was to increase the popularity of the lake and help fund Jala Poshan in its ventures to help improve the lake.  To raise fund tickets were sold with which people could plant a  tree around the lake . There were many varieties of trees planted like Gulmohar , Jackfruit ,Jamun  and Mexican silk cotton to name a few. Most of these trees are fruiting ones to help attract more butterflies and birds to the lake.  To attract people there were many activities held at the lake such as bird walks, nature walks, nature painting etc . This post is from my birds in my back yard page,however I felt the Barn Owl deserved its own post.I shall update this post with further pictures of the owl. The Barn Owl is the most widely distributed owl in the world. I often hear it screeching but rarely get to see it. It is predominantly brown and white however the brown part of the owl has black spots on it. Owl update  : The owl has begun living in my building shafts and seems to be a juvenile. the owl is often seen by me either early morning or late evening.  Saw the owl at about 6:30 am one morning allowing me to get a clear shot of it. I hope to see more of the owl in the future!!! Kabini, the Leopard's lair, is one of the closest national parks to my home. My father and I decided to drive there for a four day, three night visit. On the way to Kabini we stopped at Srirangapatna to see the Blue-tailed bee-eaters. The bee -eater was a beautiful bird and it was very exciting to see it up close. At Kabini we stayed at the Jungle Lodges Resort as they are the only ones that have safari vehicles that are allowed to enter the forest apart from the forest department. The resort is quite comfortable however if you want to stay at more luxurious resort their is other options such as The Serai and Orange County Resorts.  We went on 6 Safaris in total and saw a leopard, a pack of Indian wild dogs, a Crested  Serpent  Eagle and Crested Hawk Eagle. We saw the leopard on a tree on the third safari and the Indian wild dogs on the fourth safari. The jeep I was in was the jeep to spot the leopard!
