Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary

During my winter break I along with my father and his two friends went to Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve and Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary for five days. I saw ten tigers in total (the most in any trip of mine). Some of the pictures from my visit are below.
 I will add more pictures shortly as I am currently studying for my Board Exams.

Bird Hide - Bangalore

The weekend before school started my father and I visited a bird hide close to Bangalore which has a wide variety of birds and reptiles. The hide is close to my house and hardly took an hour and a half to reach. The hide is on barren land, a part of which was converted by the owner into the hide.This sort of photography was a new and interesting experience for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We saw over fifteen species of birds in the two and a half hours we spent over there. The area around the hide has a rain fed river because of which  birds like the Jerdon's Leafbird and the Coppersmith Barbet visit the hide. Noor and her kill

The images below are of Noor (T39) dragging her kill and then sitting in water. We had seen Noor stalk  Gaur on the first day and even had seen her try and make a kill on the second day morning. However, it was around 12 when she succeeded and dragged her kill across a river bed and into a small water hole.

Tigers are the largest members of the cat family. Tiger stripes are like fingerprints  and unique to each one of them. The roar of a Bengal tiger can carry for over 2km at night. Tigers are good swimmers and often cool off in lakes. There were once nine subspecies of tigers: Now only 6 remain. The white tiger has become even rarer in the wild due to trophy hunting or capture for the exotic pet trade. We have lost 97% of the wild tiger population in the last century.
